Myopia Control

We are excited to offer our patients a new technology to slow down the progression of nearsightedness (myopia).

Myopia is the inability to see clearly in the distance while having clear vision at near. Myopia tends to progress or get worse throughout childhood, especially during growing years. Higher levels of myopia can be associated with higher eye disease risks in adulthood.

Recently, a special type of daily soft contact lens has been shown to significantly slow down the progression of myopia when compared to glasses alone. The goal of these lenses is to reduce the chance of large increases in glasses prescriptions in the future. To learn if your children may be at a higher risk for myopia, visit mykidsvision.org.
